A Greek SME dealing with aerial monitoring offers expertise and infrastructure in order to develo a precision agriculture system combining aerial monitoring and satelite data. The solution will be more precise, more effective and less expensive than using an extensive network of sensors on the field. Various partners working in remote sensing, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and precision agriculture are sought for codeveloping an integrated solution under technical cooperation agreement.
In general, precision agriculture is applied to detect health issues on plant and vegetation growth, to assess the pesticides usage and reduce the cost of crop production and apparently in order to protect the environment. The potential crop growth depends on a plurality of variables such as soil nutrients, chlorophyll and biomass. These parameters have impact on crop production levels and therefore they influence also farmer´s profitability. Today, these parameters are measurable with the use of ICT services. ICT for precision agriculture could provide the components that allows producers to plan -Y- manage routine tasks associated with crop growing and harvesting introducing best-practices and environment-friendly activities. Also ICT could provide the opportunity for producers and other value chain stakeholders to record and manage key data about traceability, sustainability and excellence of those products they deliver.

A newly founded Greek SME is dealing with solutions for aerial monitoring. The Greek company offers innovative aerial infrastructure for earth observation, precision agriculture and environmental monitoring. The company owns an eco-friendly light manned aircraft which is capable to record critical environmental parameters by mounting remote sensing, photogrammetric and aerial air-pollutant sensors getting suitable data for the needs of precision agriculture and farming.

The company offers the aerial monitoring infrastructure, as well as the experience to collect and process information for developing and implementing an integrated precision agriculture solution. Advanced remote sensing techniques are expected to be applied to result in crucial information on plant or vegetation health, quality and growth. Special attention is paid on maximizing the plant productivity and quality to provide extended value-added to existing cooperatives and farmers. The use of aerial, combined also with satellite data can give a more effective and precise solution for the farmer. In the same time, the use of a light plane could save the cost of installing expensive sensors on the field.

Advantages and Innovations:
Today, most of the solutions offered for the precision agriculture are based on sensors installed on the ground or satellite images. The company provides a solution which delivers greater resolution, easy deployment and cost effectiveness. In detail, the company is equipped with an innovative manned aircraft, a specially designed and environmental friendly aerial platform which can receive a variety of remote sensing, photogrammetric and environmental sensors (Hyperspectral, Multispectral, Color Infrared, and RGB cameras, other aerial sensors). This solution can cover medium or large scale projects, previously not feasible or very expensive for solutions based on ground sensors. The company also uses UAVs with the ability to mount the same remote sensing and photogrammetric sensors for projects of smaller scale.

Partners could be companies, institutions or universities with proven expertise in remote sensing, agronomy/agriculture and ICT in developing precision agriculture solutions. High qualified and innovative start-ups with expertise in remote sensing and precision agriculture are also welcome.

A partner with experience in connecting UAVs or manned aerial systems capturing agriculture with unmanned ground systems (including robots) and agriculture sensors is also sought.

The type of collaboration will be technical cooperation agreement for the development of the integrated agriculture system. Partners will also contribute to the costs for developing the solution for common market exploitation.
