Description:
The company has the oldest industrial research -Y- development (R-Y-D) center in India. The R-Y-D vision is to maximize value creation and create stake holder delight by world class differentiating research.

A UASB (upflow anaerobic sludge blanket) Biofilm hybrid reactor is proposed for removal of organic matter from domestic sewage. The aerobic-anoxic biofilm reactor will be divided into two halves: the top half being aerobic and the bottom anoxic. Suspended nylon ropes can act as low cost media. The excess sludge generated in this aerobic-anoxic reactor will be recirculated to the UASB reactor.

Nitrification and de-nitrification is expected to occur simultaneously in this biofilm reactor along with remaining organic matter removal. The effluent from the biofilm reactor needs disinfection prior to any reuse. A UV (ultra violet) disinfection is proposed. The UV will be powered by solar panels thus eliminating the need for external power source. The entire system will be based on gravity flow with pumping required only or re-circulation of excess sludge from the biofilm reactor to the UASB reactor. This will reduce the overall power requirement for waste water treatment system, producing reusable quality treated water for roadside horticulture, gardening, etc.
