Laboratory is looking for technical cooperation with SMEs in the field of agriculture with bio-waste and SMEs producers of agro-pharmaceuticals that adopt the mixtures.
Description:
An Italian Laboratory is developing a method of valorization of bio-waste plant material from agriculture and agro-food SMEs as source of bioactive molecules to be employed as synergic mixtures with phytoiatric properties in agriculture and, in general, for treatments of plants with economic relapses.

In particular, mixtures of natural compounds are prepared with the aim to enhance the synergic properties among chemicals against phytopathogens (bacteria and fungi) and the innate capacities of cultivated plants to tolerate adverse environmental conditions (for e.g. drought): this means that the mixtures have phytoiatric activities.

The mixtures are obtained through eco-friendly methods and are characterized by different quality and quantity of chemicals obtained from bio-wastes of different origin through eco-friendly and low-CO2 impact processes (traditional extractions set up to have extracts with reduced solvent use; supercritical fluid extractions; extractions with "Naviglio" apparatus).

The mixtures are prepared with proper bioactive chemicals with enhanced biological activity by their synergic relations. Type of compounds, their number and concentration in the mixtures represent the result of the know how of the Laboratory as business enterprise venture. All the mixtures are studied, prepared and assayed in vitro in the laboratory.

Phytoiatric mixtures are characterized by natural compounds and they are suggested to support or replace synthetic agro-pharmaceuticals.

In general, the aim of the project is to:
1) purpose to agricultural and agro-food SMEs the strategy as new income support through the re-use of their bio-wastes;
2) to purpose phytoiatric mixtures to agro-pharmaceutical/agro-corroborants enterprises as product to be developed as end-product to be used in agriculture to treat herbal and tree cultivations;
3) purpose the Laboratory to agro-pharmaceuticals and corroborants SMEs as research -Y- development support to develop natural products with phytoiatric mixtures.

Advantages and Innovations:
The mixtures are novel products because
1) their efficacy is focused on agonistic activity among the chemical constituents against phytopathogens or towards stimulation of innate plant defense;
2) they are obtained using waste plant material from agricultural and agro-food industries as source of active biomolecules;
3) the procedures to obtain the active biomolecules are focused on eco-friendly methods avoiding or strongly reducing the use of organic solvents and petroleum derivatives;
4) the products are competitive also because they go towards the european agricultural politics which support the reduction of use of synthetic and petroleum derived agro-pharmaceuticals.
