Una universidad alemana ofrece una invención que consiste en utilizar agua producto de una pila de combustible como refrigerante en motores eléctricos. Una pila de combustible es una celda galvánica que transforma la energía de reacciones químicas del combustible en electricidad. Esta energía puede emplearse por otros componentes. En el caso de una pila de combustible de hidrógeno-oxígeno, se obtiene agua desionizada o agua producto. Puesto que no causa problemas medioambientales ni relacionados con la seguridad, este tipo de agua puede descargarse al entorno directamente. La universidad busca un fabricante o proveedor de automóviles interesados en desarrollar motores con pilas de combustible. El objetivo es establecer acuerdos de licencia y comercialización.

The innovation is developed by a well known german university active in various disciplines and with great experiences in the field of fuel cells. In general this application is connected to the accruing product water of a fuel cell. To be more concrete, the product water can be used here as refrigerant for more electric component of the device, for example in liquid-cooled, electric motors. In this way, the product water can be sensible used as cooling medium.
A fuel cell is a galvanic cell which transforms the chemical reaction energy of the fuel into electrical energy. This energy can then be used by other components. In the case of a hydro-oxygen fuel cell, deionised or so-called product water emerges. Due to being unproblematic concerning environmental and safety requirements, this kind of water can be directly released to its surroundings.
The university is looking for an automobile manufacturer or supplier, interested in the development of engines with fuel cells.
A license for commercial use is offered, other cooperation types are also possible.
Advantages and Innovations:
By using the accruing product water as cooling liquid, components can be chilled without or at least only with little supply of additional refrigerants. The lesser space required facilitates increased efficiency and performance of the applied components. Furthermore, the deionised water suits perfectly as cooling medium for electric components due to its purity and consequently low conductivity as well as its particularly high thermal capacity and conductivity.
