Some dangerous goods and hazardous chemicals are in contact with food, feed, pharma and cosmetics along the supply chain. Products from this type of industries are ingested or have a direct contact with the consumers (i.e. animals and humans), needing special manufacture processes and controls. They must fulfil safety and security legislation along all the supply chain. Moreover, application of international codes of good practices during their manufacture is obligatory.

Moreover, the implementation of an appropriate GMP/GDP (Good Manufacture Practices /Good Distribution Practices) system will increase market satisfaction levels and will be a key element in technical and commercial improvement of the company.
The use of GMP in an industry means that the production of their products is done guarantying their quality. It assures a uniform and controlled fabrication of the products, in accordance with the quality standards appropriate to the intended use of the products and with the conditions required for their commercialization. The main objective of the application of these good manufacture practices is to diminish inherent risks associated with all the production chain (e.g. contamination and human errors).

As well as in the manufacture, distribution and transport of food, cosmetics and drugs need also of special controls, which are guaranteed with the application of the GDP.

A Spanish SME specialized in technological services in the field of food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries are experts in the development and implantation of HACCP and GMP/GDP systems. Their methodology to assure the proper implementation has five phases:

1. Data collection with an initial diagnosis and identification of legislation for each of the cases (e.g. for food industry: ISO 22000, HACCP, GMP+, QUALIMAT, OVOCOM, FAMI QS; and for pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries, e.g. GDPs or ISO 22716).
2. Development of all the documentation for HACCP and GMP/GDP management system.
3. Staff training and implantation of HACCP and GMP/GDP procedures.
4. Internal audits to check the implementation degree.
5. HACCP and GMP/GDP system validation is done through the SQAS ESAD F (Safety and Quality Assessment System: Food, Pharma and Cosmetic) methodology. Moreover, technical support is given during the certification or validation of the system.
