Description:
A Korean SME has developed an industrial IoT server using global standard open platform communication unified architecture (OPC UA). The company is a member of OPC foundation and actively participates in the worldwide standard setting. OPC foundation is responsible for the development and maintenance of the OPA UA standard. The SME is the only South Korean member of the foundation and provided the first commercial OPC UA server in Korea. Their main expertise lies in information and communication technology (ICT)-converged businesses based on the experience of designing and building remote control and monitor solutions in local and overseas industrial complexes.

An Industrial Internet-of-Things (IoT) framework requires integration of traditional automation networks to enterprise IT systems. Historically, these technology platforms had been developed disjointly and had not been integrated until now. This technology proposes a reliable and secure unification of these platforms by interfacing through established standards like OPC UA. The technology provides a secure vertical network and visibility to connected supply chains. Such a system aggregate and utilize big/master data through a combined platform (iPaaS) of SMAC (social, mobile, analytics, cloud) stack.

In addition, this system allows for easy implementation of a smart factory through add-on ICT applications and services that can be installed.
