Description:
A Swiss SME developed an innovative mechanism to transform a rotatory into a linear motion. This mechanism is based on the combination of two aligned eccentrics, which achieve a long stroke in a compact design.

Compared to a press unit with a conventional rod, this special design with two eccentric wheels is capable of doubling the stroke length keeping the same radius of the crankshaft (crank throw) or of delivering the same stroke length with smaller unit volume.
Furthermore, due to the special design, the force on the ram is always centered and parallel to its motion, whereas rams are subject of lateral forces in case of conventional crankshaft-rod design.

The unit also comes with an harmonic drive, which together with the polygonal design of the drive shafts guarantees a very precise free of play operation with no possible internal displacement.

Compared to a hydraulic press the unit provides the advantages of the mechanic solution (no fluidic, clean, low or none maintenance, higher precision at dead end) while keeping precise and controlled strong strokes with different length.

The company offers a standalone version (only mechanical component with no motor) for an own integration of costumer side as well as an integrated solution unit with electro servo and control. Furthermore, the mechanical interface (mounting, ram, etc.) can be adapted to the customer needs.
