La adhesión en seco es un tipo de adhesivo que no utiliza fórmulas químicas. Esta tecnología se basa en microestructuras múltiples con una cámara de succión en el material. El producto ofrece una gran fuerza adhesiva que se mantiene incluso cuando la piel humana está húmeda. Al integrarse en un dispositivo portátil en contacto directo con el cuerpo, esta tecnología sirve para medir señales corporales o incluso diagnosticar trastornos mentales. La universidad busca socios con el fin de establecer acuerdos de licencia y comercialización con asistencia técnica.

Description:
A Korean university has shown excellence in education and research in various fields. A research team in the university has developed a wearable device technology which consists of dry adhesive system and skin adhesion.

Dry adhesion is a type of adhesive that does not use chemical formula. Various mechanisms of adhesion manners exist in nature. The existing technologies have limitation to be applied to ultrahigh sensitive sensors. The patch shapes are normally screwed on the object. However, this technology provides the dry adhesive system comprising of multiple microstructures, and these multiple microstructures form a suction chamber on the material surface. The shape induces a pressure difference within the microstructures, such that when the microstructures are adjusted on the adhering surface, it will result in changes in the figure and volume of the object. This principle provides strong adhesive strength, and the adhesive strength can be maintained even when the human skin is wet.

When integrated with a wearable device directly in contact with the human body, this technology can be applied to measure the body signal or even diagnose mental disorders of human beings. The system amplifies the subtle signs of the human body and it increases the accuracy of disease diagnosis. The accurate diagnosis is possible because the adhesive wearable device can be strongly attached to the human skin, allowing consistent collection of detailed body signals which would be hard to obtain with existing technologies.

The university research team is looking for partners in the commercialization of the product via licensing agreement or via commercial agreement with technical assistance. Industrial partner who are in healthcare, electronics, for example, medical device or wearable device manufacturers are sought.
