Summary:
A Bulgarian engineering SME has developed a device for switching capacitive load that includes a micro-controller to monitor the reactive power and transmit control impulses commutation. The purpose of the device is to minimize harmonic distortion in systems for reactive power compensation. The company seeks financing to technically complete the device as well as joint venture and licensing partnerships.
Description:
A Bulgarian company for design and manufacturing of energy saving solutions, has produced a device for minimizing harmonic distortion in systems for reactive power compensation.

The device operates through a control micro-controller, connected to the contact junction between the control input for switching on the EMR (relay) and the control input of the SR (semiconductor relay) on one side and the control input for switching off the EMR on the other. The described device allows switching of capacitive load by a single control signal from the micro-controller, in contrary to known devices, wherein control pulse is required at the beginning of each half period.

A patent application for the device has been submitted by the company. Prototype version of the device has been integrated into an international gas station chain and it has achieved a 15% reduction of energy consumption. Test results are available.

The company is looking for partners for joint venture and/or licensing agreements as well as investors for the full technical development of the device.
Advantages and Innovations:
The Complex Automation System's advantages over the existing models include:

1. Durability of the commutation element (relay) - 30 million cycles.

2. Switching to zero:

- Capacitors are always diluted after shutdown.
- Switching to zero to avoid large dynamic loads of the initial capacitor charging current, which extends battery life (4-5 years).
- Extends the life of relay contact buds.

3. The use of bistable relays allows their own consumption of the switching part (block relays) to be practically (0). The relays are controlled with pulse duration of less than 1s and current up to 20mA. This drastically reduces the operating costs of the device.

4. Phased tracking and compensation to allow for each phase to achieve 100% compensation of reactive energy.
