A German SME has developed a hardware/software system to support and optimize the sound of car combustion engines, harmonize the sound of hybrid vehicles, generate sound for electric vehicles (exterior and interior), support operational sounds and realize own brand sounds. The company is looking for a partner interested in licensing their product as standalone unit or as a software library for use in head units, a joint venture or manufacturing agreement.
The optimization of the various noises emitted by a car has always been a very time- and cost-intensive chore as it involves the treatment of each and every noise component. The specific noise of a combustion engine is closely associated with cars. Car acousticians have always been striving to improve these noise characteristics.

Due to the silenced engines and engine compartments of modern cars this has become increasingly difficult.
Especially the introduction of electric and hybrid vehicles is a new challenge for car acoustics, as there is no noise from a combustion engine. On the other hand other annoying noises can occur, created by high power electric motors for example.

Therefore a German SME has developed a sophisticated, highly flexible hardware and software system that optimizes all noise attributes of a given car (electric vehicle, hybrid electric vehicle, conventional vehicle) and even allows manufacturers to easily create their own vehicle brand sound.

The hardware and software suite is very flexible due to its completely modular design. It will therefore be possible to adapt it to any vehicle in the desired form-factor hardware or as a pure software library for integration into existing software frameworks.

The product is able to support the overall engine / exhaust sound flexibly and intelligently (engine sound enhancement) and also to suppress unwanted frequencies (active noise control).

The engine to sound synthesis parameter transfer functions can be of any complexity. Not only using rpm, speed, throttle aperture, positive load etc., but also negative load, gear, and other advanced features. As an example, the system can generate extremely natural sounding controlled backfires on gear shift, load change, or other parameter combination without burning any additional fuel.

The product is suitable for cars, bikes, quads with electric, hybrid, and conventional combustion engines and can flexibly be adapted.
The company is interested in a manufacturing agreement for mass market hardware manufacturing, a license agreement as well as in a Joint Venture.
Advantages and Innovations:
The product offers superior sonic qualities by using state-of-the-art audio algorithms.

Vehicle adaptation time and effort is reduced to the minimum due to its real-time parameter editor for windows / mac. Access is provided via ethernet and wlan. The editor allows for complete access to all sound synthesis parameters to make adjustments in real-time while driving by an assisting person. This feature alone has turned out to be an invaluable time- (and cost-) saver during the vehicle adaptation phase.

Manufacturers of electric vehicles can freely choose and create their electric / hybrid / combustion engine vehicle brand sound as long as other manufacturers have not claimed their grounds.
