Este sistema también reduce la contaminación lumínica, que afecta al ecosistema de plantas y animales de la cuneta. El sistema inteligente reduce los costes de instalación inicial y mantenimiento hasta un 60% si se compara con los sistemas de alumbrado convencionales. Description:
A Korean institute is a government-sponsored research institute responsible for establishing government policies and performing R-Y-D to enable convenient, safe, and high-quality land development for the nation. Since its foundation, the institute has achieved outstanding research outcomes that contribute to addressing the nation´s pending projects and social issues. In the area of highways, it has developed operating intelligent traffic systems and facilities maintenance system that targeting major national infrastructures such as roads (pavement), bridges, and tunnels.

This system is aimed at providing the light clue in harmony with the driver eye height, so not only improve the visibility of roads but reduce the light pollution which is believed to disrupt the roadside ecosystem comprising of plants and animals. In addition to this, power supply for lighting is acquired from the capacitor battery which is charged by photovoltaic power generator via utilising the solar panels. By adopting this smart lighting system to roads, life cycle costs for initial installation and maintenance can be reduced by 60% compared to the conventional type of street lighting. Among factors that contribute cost reduction are the physical size and weight of luminaire and technical advances related to the optic lens.

The research institute is looking for companies interested in adopting this technology for commercialization via license agreement or commercial agreement with technical assistance.
