Un instituto de investigación coreano ha desarrollado un nuevo sistema de monitorización y medición inalámbrica de catenarias. Esta tecnología permite medir y monitorizar las características de vehículos ferroviarios (tranvías, trenes y metros) en tiempo real y analizar y probar las interacciones entre la catenaria y los vehículos ferroviarios. A South Korea based research institute has developed an innovative system for railroad technology.

Facilities of electric railway should be maintained only at night and it is necessary to maintain by human power because facilities are installed at a high place.

The proposed technology is designed to measure and monitor characteristics of the railway vehicles (tram, trains, metros) in real time.

On tramways, metros or trains, the catenary and pantograph are used to transmit the electricity required to power the motors of the electric train.

The pantagraph rate of a vehicle allows to monitor and measure the vehicle´s status such as uplift, displacement, vibrations, pressure, temperature and other elements in real time.

The system measures uplift of the contact wire in catenaries caused by a pantograph. This enables to analyze and test the interactions between the railway catenary and operating electric railway vehicles.

The institute is looking for industrial partners or public bodies in the field of infrastructure that are interested in commercializing the proposed technology via licensing.
