Un grupo de investigación andaluz ha desarrollado vehículos con diferentes características (helicópteros, aviones y dirigibles) equipados con sensores apropiados para navegación autónoma, como GPS diferencial, giroscopios, unidades de medición inercial (IMUS), etc., así como sensores de percepción del entorno como cámaras de infrarrojos, cámaras visuales, etc. La información recogida por estos sensores puede emplearse para aplicaciones como creación de mapas, detección y monitorización, vigilancia, etc. Además, el uso de múltiples UAVs y técnicas de fusión sensorial permite una mayor precisión en los resultados. El instituto está interesado en transferir la tecnología mediante acuerdos de licencia.

Description:
Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are very interesting tools for obtaining information.

The information collected by these sensors can be used for applications such as mapping, detection and monitoring, surveillance, etc.. Moreover, the use of multiple UAVs and sensory fusion techniques allows more precision in the results.

The UAVs can be applied in a number of activities related to obtaining information. These UAVs consist of air platforms that are able to travel to places of interest with little or no human intervention.

- The UAVs are useful for obtaining maps such as maps of risk of water stress or vegetation, and 3D terrain elevations.
- The UAVs also provide an alternative for monitoring including automatic detection and location of events. They are also suitable for monitoring and precise work of building inspection duties.
- The cooperation between several robots and sensory joining improves the proceeds, such as reducing false alarms and accuracy location of the alarm, build larger maps, etc.
Advantages and Innovations:
- Techniques of awareness and information gathering with multiple UAVs have been demonstrated in experiments on detection and monitoring of events.

- Implementation of the proposed system with several low-cost heterogeneous UAVs have advantages over a single high-performance UAV and high cost: the multi-UAV approach provides greater robustness against failures and allows the complementary use of UAVs with different properties, different mobility and maneuverability, as well as different sensors with different capabilities that allows obtain information from different points of view.
