A Polish R-Y-D organization specialized in applications of non-contact blade vibration (tip-timing) aviation sector has developed an application which uses sensor mounted in the casing to monitor deflection of the blades in operation. The proposed system can detect threats to blade´s sustainability. The company is looking for partners from sector connected to the power generation, aviation, and car industry to cooperate via commercial agreements with technical assistance.
Description:
A Polish R-Y-D organization with almost 100 year history has developed a system that supports the maintenance of rotating machinery, i.e. gas-turbine engines, power generation turbines, compressors, transmissions etc. by the following:
- Monitoring and analysis of machine vibration (blades, the rotor and the casing),
- The analysis of functional parameters: speed, pressure, temperature, etc.,
- Borescope inspections (accredited laboratory),
- The analysis of oil samples (accredited laboratory),
- Expert opinions on the health of the machine,
- Life extension and prognosis,
- Root cause analysis,
- Sensors and health monitoring devices,
- Information systems supporting machine maintenance.

The functional and vibratory signals are analyzed by software. The monitoring functions have to be implemented in embedded devices, connected to the network. An important part of the proposed system is a terminal with the software prepared for technical personnel responsible for the machine maintenance. The system besides presenting the collected data suggests actions needed to avoid a premature degradation or a failure.

The Polish organization is looking for industrial partners, with special emphasis on aviation, power generation, and car industry that developed engines, or other equipment that involves elements that makes rotary motions i.e. blades to engage in via commercial agreements with technical assistance.
Advantages and Innovations:
Developed sensors with the metal-ceramic body are capable of operating in contact with gases of temperature up to 1000 °C, which makes them suitable to monitor the hot sections of machines.
