Description:
Algae are considered a crop of the future. Importance of different commercial applications of algae is increasing e.g. as energy source (production of biofuel and biomass), fertilizer, food supplement, cosmetic ingredient or stabilizing agent. In addition algae can be used for pollution control - for treatment of wastewater or for reduction of CO2-emissions in powerplants. Studies on development of algae related to climate change are an important subject of oceanographic research.

To ensure an economical production process of microalgae for all these fields of application, optimum growing conditions must be established and maintained. Apart from nutrients and heat, it is primarily carbon dioxide that plays a critical role in promoting algae growth.

A Northern German SME in cooperation with renowned experts in microalgae biotechnology developed suitable gas mixing and analysing systems for cultivation of microalgae. Based on many years of experience in research and development of process measuring and control technology, the systems allow for precise dosing, supply and analysis of gases and can be customized to any specific requirements.

The state-of-the-art quality gasmetering and gasmixing systems are suitable for both very low as well as high flows, all combined with a high degree of accuracy. Depending on specific requirement, exact gas ratios and volumes can be mixed, giving full flexibility even at a lower cost compared to pre-mixed gases. The gas mixing systems are designed and adjusted to customized specific product type and process, and have only basic installation requirements.
