Wearable solution for warehouse management
Summary:
Spanish start-up has developed a solution for an improved warehouse management based on the application of geolocation technologies, beacons and wearable AR (Augmented Reality) devices in logistics processes. The company is looking for commercial agreements with technical assistance.
Description:
The solution developed by the Spanish company addresses some of the biggest challenges faced by companies having to manage big warehouses: Lack of efficiency due to human errors.

The technology combines geolocation technologies, beacons and wearable Augmented Reality (AR) devices (smart glasses) in order to provide high efficiency and productivity within warehouses.

The full power of the AR (Augmented Reality) feature of the smart glasses is applied to process management in the warehouse. To do this the company uses different smart glasses such as Google Glass, Vuzix, Epson BT200 and Sony smart glasses. Thus, efficiency is greatly improved in processes such as incoming goods, picking and inventory, leaving the technical operators of the warehouse hands free.

It works in very simple way: The smart glasses identify the operator and inform audio-visually about the directions. The worker simply follows the steps indicated by the smart glasses and the tasks to be completed: What kind of trolley should be taken, what items to select, where they are, how many units are needed, where to place it in the trolley, the destination, etc.

Using contextual information by AR (Augmented Reality) greatly reduces human error and increases efficiency. If at any time the worker needs information about a package for example (such as the fragility of its contents, etc.), he can also ask the system for information. The same applies in the event of any incident or to request support from a remote operator.

Also, the system is updated automatically in real time in terms of completed tasks or inventory changes. Thus the perfect optimization by integrating incoming goods, picking and inventory as part of the same process is achieved.

The AR (Augmented Reality) is combined with the last generation of beacons with Bluetooth 4.0 that provide indoor-outdoor geo-positioning of employees and transportations. It allows optimization and prioritization of tasks in real time since workers, goods, vehicles, etc. can be positioned very easily.

The company is looking for IT integrators with experience in wearable devices willing to incorporate this technology with their solutions portfolio under commercial agreement with technical assistance.
Advantages and Innovations:
- More efficiency and productivity as well as decrease in human error.
- Learning curve and performance improvement of new and temporary workers.
