An active wound dressing provides the physical solution to the emerging threat of multi resistant wound pathogens. The company seeks partners for joint research and innovation projects or joint clinical studies. A research cooperation agreement is possible.
Description:
Based on the needs of medical physicians, nursing staff and patients, a young spin-off company coming from the Leibniz Institute of Plasma Science and Technology (INP) in Germany, has developed in cooperation with experts from the INP a medical device that is able to revolutionize the wound dressing of bad healable wounds. The complex technology of cold plasma can be used in an uncomplicated, safe and effective way. One application could be the therapy of chronic wounds.

Next to the industrial use, plasma is more and more in the focus of medicine and biotechnology. In particular non thermal "cold" plasma shows a promising potential in medicine applications and can be used even by normal ambient conditions.

Since many years scientists have investigated in the composition and active ingredients of cold plasma for the treatment of humans and animals. Various studies and publications have shown that cold plasma contains a variety of helpful active ingredients, which could be the basis for new forms of therapies and medical engineering.

For the society, it means that it will be possible to treat difficult or even non treatable wounds by the characteristics of cold plasma.

Whereas for the treatment with plasma usually devices similar to a pen are applied, the German company has developed a wound dressing in form of a patch which is composed of diverse silicone layers producing plasma on their lower side. The plasma patch attaches itself perfectly to the body surface and operates medicative on a bigger wound area.

The company is looking for partners for common investigation. Therefor the company offers a research cooperation agreement to partners who want to implement joint research projects or clinical studies.
Advantages and Innovations:
Advantages of the innovative plasma patch, proven in dermatological studies, are:
- inactivation of bacteria, in particular multi resistant bacteria constraining the healing process,
- no creation of resistances,
- enhancement of micro circulation within the tissue,
- advancement of angiogenesis,
- stimulation of wound healing independent from the wound architecture,
- reduction of PH-value in the wound area
- prompt healing effect,
- and a pain free treatment.
