A Dutch high tech SME develops fibre optic sensing and integrated photonics solutions for several industries. Their engineers have worked on this technology over the past 20 years. What they have achieved in the field of miniaturization, accuracy and precision is 5 years ahead of the rest of the market.

This technology is already well recognized (and contracted) by the aeronautics, semiconductor and automotive sectors, but the company is convinced this technology is of interest to many more (high-tech) sectors. The company is looking for system integrators to adopt this technology and jointly develop tailored solutions.

Photonics in general is fast growing worldwide and is acknowledged as a key enabling technology. Integrated Photonics is that part of photonics which resembles what micro-electronics is to electronics in general. With similarity to micro-electronics, photonic chips can be produced with a large versatility of functions and complexity, based on several basic building blocks. The advantages of integrated photonics make them favourable over conventional and traditional optical systems in many applications and markets. This means that not only new and innovative but also existing systems can be upgraded and improved using integrated photonics in practically any technological, economical and environmental sense.

Making the new technology work is one thing. Bringing the technology to the market is another challenge. The company addresses all aspects of the supply chain for bringing this next generation sensing technology to the market. These tasks involve extensive knowledge on means, resources and capabilities that are available through the (many) different players in the field. One way to gain market perspective is to join programs that involve state of the art developments in real life applications that are foreseen for the near future.
