This Korean firm as a CG producer has been researching digital human technologies including facial feature recognition. The technology mentioned in the abstract is one of the results of digital human technology research. With the automatic 3D avatar generation technology, users can create a 3D avatar of themselves by uploading just one face picture and typing in body measurements.
The process is as follows:
1. Upload one face picture into the software.
2. It automatically detects facial feature points such as lips, eyes, and nose.
If the detected points don't exactly match the facial features, the user can manually adjust it following the example shown on the image.
3. It automatically creates a full 3D head with the user's face.
4. User can fine-tune the created 3D face by adjusting the size, location, and angle of eyes, lips, nose, ears, etc.
5. User can adjust body size either by typing in body measurements or moving the slider for each measurement.
6. User can select hair, clothes, shoes, accessories (glasses, hair bands, etc.), backgrounds, and avatar's motions.
7. The avatar may be exported as a picture file or a movie file.
8. At each step of creating the avatar, user can freely rotate and zoom the camera to see the avatar more closely and from different angles.
