Using the nearly force-free EDM processes, special alloys can be machined with high precision, burr-free surfaces and high throughput. Partners sought are manufacturers of equipment for production of needles and surgical probes, willing to integrate the offered EDM manufacturing cell in their machines or production lines via an agreement with technical assistance.
Description:
Micro Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) is a nearly force-free process that is very well suited to the manufacturing of micro-size details in small parts.
The Swiss machine-builder company, leader in the application of EDM to the micro manufacturing, proposes a solution that has as main advantages the ability to manufacture very precise details without burr and material alteration. With respect to the usual manufacturing process (by grinding), EDM offers the possibility to manufacture and handle smaller parts impossible until now. The process was developed also with the goal of achieving a very high throughput, by parallelizing needles and pins manufacture.

The technology can be adapted to manufacture a standard needle tip as well as cavities and openings in the needle shaft. The process is thus very well suited to the specialty market and can be adapted to the partners´ needs.

The Swiss company can deliver the OEM solution in form of finished EDM modules tailored to the machine or process of the customer. Partners sought are thus interested in a commercial agreement with technical assistance from the Swiss company to adapt the process and integrate it in their production lines or production equipment.
