Un equipo de científicos polacos ha desarrollado un método de microencapsulación que puede implementarse en las industrias farmacéutica y alimentaria. Las microcápsulas inmovilizan sustancias activas, como enzimas biológicamente activas, células, etc., enmascaran su sabor y olor y las protegen de factores externos (su entorno). La utilización de varios métodos fisicoquímicos permite la producción de microcápsulas con propiedades específicas y la realización de adaptaciones conforme a necesidades y requisitos individuales. El equipo de científicos busca socios con el fin de establecer acuerdos de comercialización con asistencia técnica y licencia.

Technology of microcapsules for immobilisation of active substances is offered
Summary:
A team of Polish scientists has developed a microencapsulation method that may be implemented in pharmaceutics as well as in the food industry. Microcapsules immobilise active substances, can mask their flavour and odour, and shield them from external factors (their environment). Cooperation in a form of commercial agreement with technical assistance and licence agreement is offered.
Description:
A research team that works at a university located in northwestern Poland and specialises in immobilisation and packaging methods, has developed a technology of microencapsulation.

The offered solution enables immobilisation of various active substances such as biologically-active enzymes, living cells etc. Another type of substances that can be immobilised using the technology is functional food additives. The offered microencapsulation technology combines well-established industrial processes with innovative solutions for creating capsules. In the processes of microcapsules production and immobilisation only natural substances are used, so that the technology can be safely implemented in food and pharmaceutical industries as well as in medicine and other branches. The utilisation of various physicochemical methods enables the production of microcapsules with specific properties desired by a partner and making adjustments to his individual needs and requirements.

The scientists would like to see their invention implemented and used in a commercial production. To that end, they are looking for a partner that will acquire the technology, introduce it into his production process and further improve it under the commercial agreement with technical assistance. They are also ready to licence the technology to a partner that will use it to manufacture his product. The scientists, in turn, will be responsible for providing the technical documentation necessary for the technology transfer. They are also ready to lend their expertise in adapting the technology to partners´ requirements. If requested, they can also help further develop it.
Advantages and Innovations:
The offered technology allows one to design when (under what conditions, in reaction to what stimulus) an active substance is released and in what dosage. Thus, there are no unnecessary losses and the active substance is delivered more efficiently, ´smartly´. This is a major improvement over the existing solutions which offer constant, gradual release which results in some waste.

Other advantages: the microencapsulation process allows masking flavour and odour of active substances, and protects them from undesirable effects of an environment. Thus, manufacturers can improve the quality of their products by adding immobilised active substance without changing any other of their properties (smell, taste, colour, etc.). Moreover, substances used to make the capsules are natural and allowed to contact with food or pharmaceuticals. The whole production process combines well-known technologies (e.g. spray drying) with innovative methods (i.a. electrostatic method, electro vibration).
