La composición es sometida a un proceso de fermentación y finalmente los piensos son enriquecidos con proteínas, obteniendo un producto rico en aminoácidos. A Serbian company offers a technology allowing the production of animal feed from fruit and vegetable waste. It is an innovation which enables the utilization of large quantities of waste as a healthy animal feed. The company is looking for partners interested in licensing agreement.
Description:
The company was established 25 years ago, after it won a gold medal for the best technological innovation in Brussels in the agro-food area. Since then, innovation in the agro-food area has become the driving force of the company.
Raw material after fruit and vegetable processing becomes a problem because of transportation cost and its potential burden on the ecosystem. Such waste is organic and mostly consists of small amounts of starch and soluble sugars (monosaccharaides, di-saccharaides and poly saccharides), minerals, vitamins and starch that is digestible for animals and highly desirable in the diet. This composition of raw material for livestock feed needs fermentation in order to reduce the cellulose and starch and soluble sugars, vitamins and minerals. Fermentation serves as a good foundation for the growth of all the strains of bacteria. After the fermentation process is completed, the resulting animal feed is enriched with proteins from the body of the bacteria used, resulting in protein-rich food that is full of healthy amino acids.
The preparation procedure for the use of waste from the food industry consists of: grinding of debris, setting the pH value of the substrate, seeding with an appropriate mixture of lactic acid bacteria and bacterial cellulose.
The company seeks partners from the agro-food sector who would be interested in obtaining a license to use this technology, through a licensing agreement.

The company is recognized by its global reputation established through its own scientific research, protected by patented technologies and additional know how.
The positive effects of innovation:
1. Reduction of costs.
The waste after the processing of fruit and vegetables, in quantity of 20-40%, becomes second final product.
2. Healthy feed.
Laboratory tests have confirmed that protein which is produced in this way has a positive effect on animal feed. Any adverse effects on their health have not been recorded. Progress in obtaining a normal animal body weight was satisfactory.
3. Protection of eco-system. Waste is used in new way that is not in contradiction to the protection of ecosystems.
