This waste has the potential to contain up to 500 grams of gold per tonne.

The SME is now seeking commercial agreement with technical assistance, or a financial agreement or a license agreement.
Description:
The concentration of gold in computer and other gold bearing waste varies widely. In some trials materials with 0.006% gold were found while in other trials materials had 0.054% gold. This is equivalent respectively to 60 grams per tonne or 540 grams per tonne, which would give a gold value of -Y-euro;2,000 or of -Y-euro;18,500 per tonne at gold price of 34 euro per gram.

Existing technologies:
Smelting:
The potential value to waste recycling companies is high. However, many cannot benefit from this because they do not have a method to separate gold from other metals. Instead they separate and recover the metals and components they can and export all the remaining gold bearing waste to large smelters in Europe or elsewhere.
Smelting, large scale incineration of waste at elevated temperatures, is not suitable for smaller countries or regions due to the economics of scale. Electronic waste from smaller recyclers must be transported long distances by road and sea, resulting in lower return. The Basel Convention and the European Union favour waste treatment close to producer.

Cyanide Leaching:
Cyanide can dissolve gold but is highly toxic. It is generally used for gold mining and requires expensive post treatment. Local communities usually object strongly to use of this chemical.

Mercury:
Mercury is used in small-scale gold mining to extract gold as an amalgam. Vaporised mercury reaches more than 1000 tonne/year with serious health risks to large numbers of people and must be replaced by a safer technology.

Technology on offer:
The process/technology on offer is for gold recovery from waste electrical and electronic equipment - a fast growing waste stream.
A USA Patent has been granted and European Patent applications are pending. The offering includes know-how, and apparatus design. Successful laboratory trials have been carried out as well as trials on a larger prototype reactor.

The technology recovers gold from the fast growing stream of waste electrical and electronic equipment.
The technology process which produces no hazardous emissions or by-products is based on dissolution of gold in a reactor unit.

This process is targeted at small, medium or large scale recyclers of gold bearing electronic waste and also at suppliers of waste recycling plant. Companies in other sectors who recover gold would also be potential customers.
It is estimated that units based on this technology could be manufactured in capacities to treat from 1 tonne of waste up to 100 tonnes or more, either as a single unit or in a linked cluster of smaller units.

Commercial agreement with technical assistance:
The partner should have a successful track record in linking a similar company to a partner who has the skills and resources to transform it into a key player in the recycling world, either as recycler or as a supplier of recycling plant to recyclers. The potential partner would have access to engineering and laboratory facilities to continue to optimise and scale up with input from the inventor.

Financial agreement:
Agreement on the total value of the technology to put value on equity the licensee would buy. The licensee might offer other benefits which could affect the price of equity.

License agreement:
A license would supply equity to support growth and could also have contacts in. potential growth regions.
Further, any expression of interest (EOI) will progress to non disclosure agreement´s (NDA) where appropriate for further discussion.
Advantages and Innovations:
· This gold process / technology will recover gold from waste electrical and electronic equipment.
· Successful laboratory trials have been carried out and also on a larger engineered prototype.
· The gold recovery unit can be integrated into a waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) recycling plant to enable recyclers to process waste at source thus avoiding high transport and smelter costs.
· This gold technology can be scaled from small to large units, to treat from 1 tonne up to 100 tonnes or more, as a single reactor unit or in clusters of smaller units.
