Description:
Transformer pits are used as protection surrounding oil cooled transformers. In case of a leakage/accident the transformer pit shall be able to take care of all oil that might leak. Transformer pits are placed outdoors and rain water is captured in the pit, implicating a need to detect oil contaminated water, before discharging any water. The solution of the Swedish company ensures that there is always enough room for oil in case of an accident by discharging only clean water, all water being discharged is measured once per second to ensure that no oil is being discharged.

The technology is connected via the mobile network and this makes it possible to remotely monitor and detect oil in the process of discharging the transformer pit of rain water. The monitoring and clearing is done remotely with no interaction of maintenance personnel needed. The technology is primarily used by energy grid companies as well as maintenance companies with a subcontracted responsibility of these clearings.

There is a growing need for remote monitoring of transformer pits as maintenance of them becomes increasingly determined by demand and thus the numbers of visits are subsequently minimized. This implies a growing need for a reliable method of ensuring that transformer pits can receive oil in the event of a failure.

The Swedish company is looking for commercial agreement with technical assistance. Potential partners are suppliers of product and/or services to Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and Transmission System Operators (TSOs). The future partner should be interested in integrating the technology of the Swedish company to improve monitoring and documentation of the clearance of water in transformer pits.

The technology enables users to cut costs in personnel, secure the quality of water being discharged from transformer pits and comply with environmental legislation.

The technology is already in operation and has managed over 5 000 transformer pits today.
