Technology offered for maintaining the effectiveness of essential oils at lower concentrations of active compounds
Summary:
A Lithuanian SME that performs research in the field of low-temperature plasma has developed a technology that allows essential oils to retain their biological effect with smaller concentrations of active compounds, allowing them to be used by people with allergies. Technology along with equipment and support of the Lithuanian company is offered via a commercial agreement with technical assistance or technical cooperation agreement to pharmaceutical manufacturing companies.
Description:
This Lithuanian company, with roots dating back to 1991, has been researching low-temperature plasma effects ever since it´s inception. The company has several patents granted for low-temperature plasma effect applications. Recently the company has developed a technological process for producing essential oil mixtures that retain their biological effects while having smaller concentrations of active compounds, thus being safer to people allergic to those compounds.

The technological process and equipment were developed in 2015, allowing to use the low-temperature plasma effect on liquids. During this process the free ions and radicals, created by a low-temperature plasma discharge in a controlled atmosphere, are inserted into a liquid medium where they cause the formation of certain active catalytic centres. When this liquid medium is a mixture of essential oils, the result of this process´ application is that biological effects of essential oils become observed at lower active compound concentrations.

The company has created a manufacturing unit for the application of this effect. The current manufacturing capacity of the unit is around 1000 units of 20 - 100 ml bottles of essential oil mixtures per 24 hours. The company have tested the effectiveness of this process, however they currently do not have the financial capacity for clinical assessments to take place. For this reason the company is looking for partners to acquire the technology and further develop it with support by the Lithuanian company.

The Lithuanian SME is offering the right to the current technology, manufacturing equipment, technical and advisory support as well as support for a scale-up under a commercial agreement with technical assistance or a technical cooperation agreement.
Advantages and Innovations:
The main innovation is the application of low-temperature plasma effect to liquids. The result of this is the maintained biological effectiveness of essential oil mixtures while using smaller amounts of active compounds, allowing for the product to be used for those normally allergic to these mixtures.
Stage of Development:
Available for demonstration
IPs:
Secret Know-how
CommeR Statunts Regarding IPR Status:
The technological process is a secret know-how and relies on other patents that belong to the Lithuanian SME.

Partner sought

Type and Role of Partner Sought:
