Description:
Different kinds of orthopaedic systems are used by researchers conducting investigations related to the lower-limbs movement. The problem is that most of them are not intended for research but for the final user, so it is not possible to control and program them and are not equipped with sensors. Therefore, if the researchers want to use them, they need to develop a control software and incorporate the required sensors.

In this context, the Spanish technological company has developed a robotic ankle that has been specially designed to fit the researcher´s needs in the fields of rehabilitation, biomedicine and sports. This technology allows controlling the quantity of movement and the velocity in the joint movement. Also, it incorporates encoders to estimate angular position and two pressure sensors inside the sole.

The technology package incorporates all the systems needed to start working immediately, including a battery pack that lasts for 5 hours.
