El prototipo de tomografía biológica, que consiste en un instrumento de control no invasivo de la temperatura interna en caso de hipotermia, ofrece una mayor resolución espacial (hasta 1 mm) que los termómetros-microondas (1 cm) y, en comparación con los termómetros infrarrojos, el tomógrafo alcanza una mayor profundidad (más de 5 cm en vez de 1 mm). Este dispositivo ofrece la oportunidad de realizar diagnósticos estructurales con resolución espacial micrométrica. La empresa busca socios para gestionar la producción y comercialización del dispositivo.

Summary:
Small innovative enterprise from Nizhny Novgorod has developed a new technology for early diagnostics and monitoring of cancer. The firm is seeking for partners in order to organize commercial production of the device intended for inner temperature control and structural diagnostics of biological tissues.
Description:
The prototype of biomedical tomography (unique acousto-electronic device for noninvasive control of inner human temperature during hyperthermia in oncology) is developed. Developed prototype exceeds IR/Microwave-thermometers, as well as early-developed multi-channel acoustic thermometers, by functionality. In comparison with Microwave-termometers, the device has better potential on spatial resolution (up to 1 mm instead of 1 cm). In comparison with IR-thermometers, biomedical tomograph has better diagnostic depth (more than 5 cm instead of 1 mm). In comparison with early-developed multi-channel acoustic thermometers, the newly-developed device allows to provide spatial resolution with only one antenna without mechanical scanning. In comparison with MRI-thermometers, the biomedical thermometer has up to 10 times cheaper production costs and up to 20 times cheaper in terms of service costs.
Along with noninvasive control of inner temperature during hyperthermia, there is an opportunity to apply acoustic thermometer for early cancer diagnostics (in most cases, the information about high local temperature is indicative of cancer). However, in many cases, the information on inner temperature (without supportive information on structural changes) may also lead to misdiagnose. In order to reduce the risk of misdiagnose, the company developed additional diagnostic device as an attachment to acoustic thermometer, which is based on photoacoustic tomography. Photoacoustic tomography allows to provide additional structural diagnostic in locally-heated regions of human tissues. The contrast of photoacoustic approach to inhomogenities of biological tissues (mainly to blood vessels) is up to 10 times higher than for ultrasonography or roentgenography. In comparison with pure-optical methods (for example, OCT), photoacoustic approach allows to provide better diagnostic depth (from 3 mm to 5 cm depending on frequency characteristics of acoustic antenna). During future development, the photoacoustic attachment will allow to meter oxygenation levels in biological tissues (low level of oxygen in local tissue region is one of the symptoms for cancer).
