Un instituto de investigación alemán especializado en metrología ha desarrollado un dispositivo que permite utilizar tubos fluorescentes T5 (diámetro de 16 mm) de hasta 54 W en áreas con atmósferas explosivas (ATEX). Los sistemas avanzados de iluminación para áreas explosivas no pueden equiparse con tubos T5 debido a los puntos calientes locales en su superficie, y se utilizan normalmente tubos fluorescentes T8. El instituto busca licenciatarios.

State of the art lighting systems for explosive areas can not be quipped with T5 lights, due to local host spots at their surface. The offered devices reduce such hot spots. The research institute is searching for licensees.

A German research institute, specialized in metrology has developed a device which enables the use of T5 standard fluorescent lights (diameter of 16mm) with up to 54 W in lights for the use in areas with an explosive atmosphere (ATEX). In explosion-proof linear luminaires, T8-fluorescent lights are mostly used. From economic point of view, however, T5-fluorescent lights are becoming more interesting. T5-lights have a smaller diameter, which causes the disadvantage that the surface by the spiral heats up considerably at the end of their lifetime. Therefore, the use in explosive sectors is very problematic.

The new solution of the research institute ia a safety-related concept for the use of fluorescent lights in explosion-proof lights of the ignition protection type.
The research institute is searching for licensees.
