A French engineering company, famous for its knowledge in eco-friendly and sustainable clean energies, has developed an innovative concept of Darrieus-inspired hydrokinetic power turbine to be used in water streams -Y- rivers. Typical power output of a single module is 18KW. A full platform with 14 modules joint together offers 250KW. Maintenance is operated by lifting -Y- rotating the turbines one after another. NACA-shaped blades are used to provide homogenous water streams and energy outputs. Total depth under water is limited so the turbine can be used in several river sizes. The French company is looking for investors and partners willing to install this turbine in other European countries. Licence agreements, or commercial agreements with technical assistance are sought. Technical assistance would include complete setup, monitoring and backup support during the full turbine´s lifetime.
Advantages and Innovations:
Tough design, affordable costs, low maintenance, reliability, field-proven, optimal return on investment (ROI), famous manufacturer, flexible modules depending on the power needed. Rather than relying on dams, which can be costly and detrimental to marine environments, this power system works on the same principle as a wind turbine, with rotating foils that power a central permanent magnet generator. But because it is installed underwater, and water is more than 800 times denser than air, this turbine provides significantly more power than wind turbines at relatively low water current speeds.
