Description:
The Greek SME, established in 2007 has its Head Office and Development Center in Greece and Sales -Y- Marketing Offices in the USA and Canada. The development team has a combined 70 years of processor development experience and successfully released over 20 chip designs. The proprietary and patented compression technology used in the developed GPU-Series contains the core innovation, responsible for the power savings.

The SME has re-designed the GPU architecture, breaking through the current barrier of the technology in the embedded graphic domain. The architecture was built from bottom-up. The target for this redesign was to minimize the power consumption beyond the GPU on System Level (e.g. Smart-Watch, Smart Thermostat etc.). The products boast an ultra-low power consumption which can increase battery life up to 100% without any compromise on performance or user experience.

The SME´s products are intended for mid-size and Tier1 fabless semiconductor companies and specialized OEM customers for System on a Chip (SoC) integration for small to midsize display devices such as Smart/Fitness Watches, embedded IoT platforms, Smartphones/Tablets, Home Health devices, and Automotive solutions etc.

The company wishes to collaborate with various semiconductor and Microcontroller unit companies, where its technology can be applied. To this end it has selected the following modes of exploitation for its technology:

- Licence agreement. The company is willing to license the technology to partners who wish to fully implement systems without engaging the SME into their manufacturing process. A licence agreement can be supported with continuous support and technical updates, making it a long term partnership.

- Manufacturing agreement. The company can undertake the manufacturing process for enterprises who do not want to implement a manufacturing process. This mode of collaboration can be facilitated either long term or on an one-off partnership.

- Joint venture.The company is willing to explore setting up with well-established companies, new entities who will invest in the development and manufacturing of new innovative products based on its technology.

- Research cooperation agreement.The company recognizing that there exist many improvement that can be incorporated in its technologies and Research and Technology Organisations can be utilized to further the innovative characteristics of its technologies. This cooperation can be realized through the development of common research proposals or even on a subcontracting basis for specific development tasks.
Advantages and Innovations:
The main advantages of the innovative GPUs focus on the combination of power and cost savings. Specifically, the several compression technologies integrated in the main product series provides in average 76.33% better power savings than comparable products currently available on the market.

It also offers significant Bill of Materials (BOM) cost savings by eliminating external Mobile Memory (LPDDR), because of the use of the proprietary frame-buffer compression and the tiny software libraries. This results in a significant cost drop per system ($2 USD).

Another benefit is the very small dies-size of just 0.07mm2 (while competitive solutions are at 1.06mm2) which provides cost savings of around $0.10 per chip.

Type and Role of Partner Sought:
The SME is looking for industrial partners, namely fabless semiconductor and Microcontroller unit companies, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), and product manufacturers. These industrial partners should be interested in integrating into their products power-optimized display solutions, without compromising a graphically rich GUI (Graphical User Interface). The cooperation on this level can be implemented through the following modes:

- License agreement. The sought partner will be willing to licence the technology from the SME and integrate it in its products.

- Manufacturing agreements. The sought partner will be willing to provide specifications to the SME for the manufacturing of a number of systems.

- Joint venture. In this case the SME will undertake with the partner company to establish a new line of business (i.e. new product) based on common technological pooling. Both companies will provide resources and investment toward this goal.

Furthermore the SME is always interested to collaborate with Universities and research institutions working in the field of computer graphics and power optimization technology through a research cooperation agreement. This agreement can take the form of either common participation in R-Y-D proposals or subcontracting on specific topics for technology development.
