By using artificial intelligence methods, several design tasks can be tackled in a much quicker way than by beans of customary techniques. This allows saving time along such process. The group is looking for joint venture agreements with energy companies.

Artificial intelligence has been widely applied to many design processes over last few years, given its ability to tackle the behaviour of many processes, starting from a set of examples produced by these ones.
But still nowadays, the design process of wind energy production, storage and distribution systems makes use of classical methods. The main objective over this design process is considering as many different designs as possible, but this number is bounded by the amount of time required by such methods.

A Spanish research group is currently working on applying artificial intelligent to wind turbine design. The objective is replacing some of these classical methods by novel methods in artificial intelligence. Some of these techniques manage the available knowledge in a much more efficient way, providing in some cases even more accurate results. Artificial intelligence methods are able to save much time in the analysis of each proposed model, and thus, make possible to take into account a larger number of considered models throughout the design process.

The group is looking to reach joint venture agreements. They are looking for companies working on energy technology.

Nowadays, aerodynamic industry makes use of exclusively customary techniques over the different stages composing the design process. These techniques require some computing time (depending on the accuracy provided), which bounds the number of different designs that can be taken into account. By reducing that time through the use of new methods in artificial intelligence, it is possible increasing the amount of considered designs.

Advantages:

The main advantage of the soft computing algorithms in the design of complex systems is a hard reduction on the search space of the optimum parameters of the system. Considering the large computing time of the simulation tools that process the parameters, the result is an important reduction of the cost/resources dedicated to the design task.
