Las moléculas que pueden extraerse incluyen taninos, estilbenos y polifenoles. Se buscan productores de biocidas en Europa interesados en unirse al consorcio para desarrollar biocidas biológicos. Su objetivo será orientar al consorcio en la identificación de aplicaciones adecuadas basadas en los resultados generados por los socios académicos.

The French research organization has been entrusted with the project called EXTRACTBIOCIDES by the French competitiveness clusters "Pôles XYLOFUTUR" and FIBRES - 2 clusters bringing together all actors of the wood sector: industries, R-Y-D centres, universities and schools that are active in the forestry, wood converting and paper pulp industries.
They are looking for commercial and market-oriented cooperation including mutual technical assistance with industrial companies.
Description:
The project EXTRACTBIOCIDES aims at supporting a consortium of partners in finding new sustainable bio-molecules that could lead to the development of new bio-based materials including bio-based biocides from wood extracts. Molecules that could be extracted from wood biomass: tannins, stilbenes, various polyphenols. The French research organization in charge of the project is looking for industrial producers of biocides in Europe that are interested in joining the consortium with respect to the development of bio-based biocides. Their role will mostly consist in guiding the consortium towards the most appropriate applications based on the results generated by the academic R-Y-D partners. The industrial producer will bring his experience and know-how enabling the consortium to move forward in its development project. They may also be willing to carry out their own efficiency testing internally. The cooperation would be commercial and market-oriented including mutual technical assistance. The cooperation could lead to new product development.
The targeted applications will be determined according to the performance profile of the newly developed bio-molecules and the specific downstream market requirements.
The consortium of partners will be composed of industrial and academic research partners all along the value chain:
- Industrial partners having a strong expertise in biomass treatment and extraction technology
- Academic R-Y-D centers having a good understanding of wood chemistry and biomolecules.
- A biocide producer which could guide the consortium with product specifications to be met (technical, regulatory) and test the newly developed molecules in his end applications of choice - this is the profile of the industrial partner that the French research organization is looking for.

Wood extracts can confer differentiated biocide effects whilst supporting an environmentally friendly and green alternative to fossil existing biocides.
Biocides provide safe and effective protection against the microbiological spoilage of a wide variety of products, including paints, polymer emulsions, adhesives, inks, metalworking fluids, detergents, pulp/paper and water treatment, wood, plastics and leather.
The industrial partner will participate to a collaborative R-Y-D project which could be funded by national funding agencies or European funds.

Ideally the partner should be a biocide producer. His market experience will guide the project team to understand the market trends and needs.
