El centro de investigación busca socios con el fin de establecer acuerdos de cooperación en materia de investigación y optimizar el proceso de suministro energético.

Urgent partners are sought for an energetic utilization of natural fibre composites
Summary:
A research institution from Germany with focus on research and experimental development on natural sciences and engineering is investigating the energetic utilization of natural fibre composite plastics (NRC). Of special interest are residual materials that can no longer be recycled due to the necessary effort. The goal of a partnership is to develop small systems for SMEs that realize the energy recovery of plastics according to the power requirement. A research cooperation agreement is sought.
Description:
The research institution from Germany has three different research pillars. One focus is research into energy and environmental issues. Due to the successful submission of a federal research call the institution is able to realize a R-Y-D project with a budget of 1,9 Mio EUR until 2021. For the requested research sub-project, there is a budget of 85.000 EUR. This sub-project is focussing on the energetic utilization of natural fibre composite plastics (NRC).

Now, a suitable system is designed for this purpose. Due to the high legal requirements for emission protection and the resulting high technical complexity, small systems for the SMEs are currently not the state of the art.

For the realisation of the project partners are sought that deliver relevant material (max. 100 kg) with a proper documentation of the components. The material will be used for material- and process analysis and experimental approaches (e.g. fuel analysis, material flow analysis, etc.). In addition, the partners have to fund parts of the relevant costs for the analysis.

Partners are sought for a research cooperation agreement in order to optimize the process of energy supply.
Technical Specification or Expertise Sought:
The here mentioned facts represent the milestones of the project. Potential partners should have already experience in the described field or should plan (a high degree of competence and technical background is expected) to investigate in natural fibre research. The development of an ideal plant design and process management refers to fuel characterization, by means of ash melting behaviour, elemental analysis, TGA (thermo-gravimetric analysis) and calorific value. Conducting combustion tests in a muffle furnace (micro-combustion reactor) and CFD (computational fluid dynamics) calculation for flow behaviour in the combustion chamber is another task of the project. With these parameters, it is possible to construct and simulate boiler geometries.
Further expertise is sought in the fields of:
- Development of economic plant concepts for the energetic utilization of non-recyclable highly filled plastic waste for the plastics processing industry
- Concepts for direct use of heat energy for heating press, injection moulds, and possibly buildings
- Development of robust, geometrically variable mill systems for optimum size reduction of SMC (sheet mould compounds) / BMC (bulk mould compounds) waste
- Development of clean and environmentally friendly emission control systems
- Application and collection as well as economic treatment of inorganic fillers for reuse.
