Description:
A leading designer and manufacturer of power capacitors based in the East of England is working to develop a new generation of high performance capacitors for particular application in advanced electric vehicle development. Such capacitors will need to have high power to weight characteristics and be capable of sustaining performance at temperatures as high as 160 Celsius.

Critical to this development is the need to work with innovative dielectric/metal composite film technologies or other novel approaches that will provide the technical platform to address the capacitor design challenges.

Therefore, specialist dielectric polyester/polypropylene and metal composite film suppliers are sought, able to offer potential new technology approaches, to work collaboratively with the capacitor company.

Technical cooperation and possibly joint venture agreements will be considered.
Technical Specification or Expertise Sought:
The capability to manufacture dielectric plastic/metal composite films. Typically the plastic component will consist of polyester or polypropylene drawn to a thickness of less than 0.6-Y-micro;m and the metallised layer typically consists of aluminium or zinc at a deposition thickness of 0.02 - 0.05 -Y-micro;m. Together with the manufacturing capability must be the capability and desire to design and develop, in collaboration with the capacitor manufacturer, new technology approaches.
