Description:
UK -Y- Ireland company active in town planning, environmental and landscape consultancy with extensive knowledge and experience of wind, solar, telecommunications and general infrastructure consenting matters is looking for novel technologies in the area of renewable energy and smart cities to incorporate into their planning and sustainability services.

1. Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)

The company has project managed environmental statements on numerous major infrastructure projects which typically consisted of producing a planning application, ornithology, ecology, geology, design, landscape -Y- visual, noise, traffic -Y- transport, archaeology -Y- cultural heritage, topography, geo-physical and hydrology studies. The company also produces a significant number of specialist environmental reports in house. They are looking for innovative technologies to add value to each of the above specialisms to assess these impacts, provide and implement mitigation measures.

2. Geographical Information Systems (GIS)

The company, in partnership with a North West UK University, has developed an innovative desk based and web based GIS technology. It encompasses all aspects of the UK´s planning process, including economic, environmental and social considerations within a new sophisticated GIS technology to assess and mitigate against environmental risks and constraints affecting viability of an infrastructural proposal. As part of this new technology, the company offers a full GIS constraints mapping service across the UK which has a global platform to help choose the optimum location and scale for an infrastructure development. The GIS is being developed into a 3D model as a tool for Smart Cities urban planning for the future. The company is looking for compatible technologies in which to collaborate the GIS with and provide a greater market share for both company and partners in different geographic markets worldwide.

3. Feasibility Studies

Along with the GIS, the company regularly undertakes feasibility studies for different infrastructure projects to identify risks and constraints at the outset and assess alternatives that may affect the viability of a particular location to de-risk the planning and environmental aspects of a project prior to proceeding with the consenting stage. As part of this process full consideration is taken of national and local policies relevant to a project. The company is looking for different technologies to help assess the suitability of different geographical locations for different infrastructure projects including different energy technologies.

4. Public Consultation

With over 16 years experience dealing with often contentious infrastructure development proposals, the company has built up considerable expertise in this specialised area. This is an area of increasing importance and a key company strength. They are regularly required to represent clients at planning committee meetings, public events, community forums etc. and to mediate with local communities. The company is looking for different technologies to visually demonstrate infrastructure projects they work with to better inform the public and help them shape proposals for the areas they live in.

5. Smart Cities

The company has developed a GIS for the sensitive siting of energy developments in urban areas and wishes to collaborate and expand in this new growing area. They are looking for different technologies in the Smart Cities sector particularly for energy that they can partner with for collaboration with the GIS.

In summary, the company is looking for potential technology partners to collaborate on infrastructure developments including renewable energy (wind, solar, hydro), telecommunications, road, rail, water courses etc. and for complementary technologies for use in developing Smart City solutions. This can be in form of a license, services or technical cooperation agreement depending on the application.
Technical Specification or Expertise Sought:
The company has developed a Geographical Information System (GIS) which has a significant number of environmental data layers for the UK in which to assist in sensitively siting infrastructure developments including onshore wind, solar parks and telecommunication masts. The company are looking for potential technology partners to collaborate using the GIS for infrastructure developments including renewable energy (wind, solar, hydro), telecommunications, road, rail, water courses etc. and for complementary technologies for use in developing Smart City solutions.
