Un centro de I+D rumano busca investigadores en el campo de tecnología de materiales. La investigación se centra en el desarrollo de una nueva generación de biomateriales metálicos (aleaciones de cobalto y titanio), que serán utilizados en implantes para odontología. El equipo de investigación tiene amplia experiencia en materiales destinados a diferentes dominios. Los biomateriales pueden ser elementos derivados de la naturaleza o sintetizados en laboratorio mediante enfoques químicos que utilizan componentes metálicos. El metal es de especial importancia por sus propiedades específicas, como comportamiento mecánico, biocompatibilidad y resistencia a la corrosión o al desgaste. El equipo de investigación se encargará de desarrollar y caracterizar la estructura de estos nuevos materiales. El objetivo es establecer acuerdos de cooperación técnica e investigación.

Description:
An R-Y-D organisation from Romania with experience in materials from 1990, is looking for research partners to develop a new materials for dental implant. They have a lot of experience in materials used in various domains. Biomaterials can be derived either from nature or synthesized in the laboratory using a variety of chemical approaches utilizing metallic components. Materials scientists are currently paying more and more attention to the process of inorganic crystallization within a largely organic matrix of naturally occurring compounds. Generally, dental applications consist in all type of materials, metal being of particular importance due to specific properties, such as mechanical behavior, biocompatibility and wear or corrosion resistance. The project is focused on the development of new generation of metallic materials (both cobalt and titanium alloys), which could be used for different implants of prosthesis in dental applications. The research team will realize and structurally characterize these new materials (metallographic analysis, X-Rays diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, corrosion resistance).
The partners sought are SMEs and R-Y-D performers in the field of Materials Technology for Technical cooperation or interested in EU/International R-Y-D Programs or in research cooperation agreement.
Technical Specification or Expertise Sought:
The experimental program will include specific analysis: spectrometry for determination of chemical composition, mechanical characteristics (yielding strength, fracture strength, young modulus of elasticity elongation), X-Rays diffraction (for determination of the main phases from the new alloys), optical quantitative and qualitative metallography (by Olympus microscope, at different magnification- in order to determine the main structural features of the alloys), stereo-microscopy (by a stereo-microscope type Olympus, equipped with Quick Micro Photo 2.2 soft for image capture) and scanning electron microscope (both on mechanical or corrosion samples, in order to reveal structural features for the micro-structure and for the cavitation mechanism)
