The company is seeking engineering expertise in spacecraft control and propulsion systems design for technical cooperation agreement
Description:
The product enabling this service is a spacecraft able to capture and dock to the target satellite, regardless of the target´s operational status. The target satellite will have an attachment fitted on its surface to enable capture of the target satellite with a relatively simple and robust mechanism. The spacecraft bus architecture is intended to be flexible in order to accomplish various types of missions:

- Satellite orbit insertion;
- De-orbit of failed satellites away from operational orbit;
- De-orbit of operational satellite at the end of their life;
- Re-position satellite into a new orbit altitude or plane.

This attachment of satellite fitting for different missions enables the company to support its customers throughout their satellite´s life. The company is at a crucial stage of development where they require external expertise in spacecraft control and propulsion systems design, in order to:
- Further develop their product design;
- Simulation of proof-of-concept;
- Build a prototype for ground demonstration.

Technical cooperation agreement is preferred for collaboration as the company is looking to assess the feasibility and requirements of spacecraft sub-systems and using the partner´s expertise and know-how, co-develop spacecraft design prior to a prototype technology demonstrator.
Technical Specification or Expertise Sought:
The company is seeking technical expertise in:

1. Spacecraft control systems design.
Spacecraft tracks, rendezvous and captures the target satellite before docking. The spacecraft therefore requires a sophisticated attitude control system, fully integrated with vision based sensors. The company is seeking technical expertise experienced in designing control systems for spacecraft rendezvous and docking purposes. Experience with designing control systems for capturing non-cooperative spacecraft would also be beneficial.

2. Propulsion Systems Design.
Spacecraft propulsion systems expertise is required to help establish propulsion system detailed requirements and design the system for accomplishing the variety of missions previously described. Overall propulsion system design expertise is required for proof-of-concept and prototype demonstration. Experience on both chemical and electric propulsion systems design is required.

Partner sought

Type and Role of Partner Sought:
The company is seeking to partner with a UK or EU based research institution or industry partner.

The company will be using its own skills and resources to develop other sub-systems and will be responsible for integrating the design. The desired outcome of the cooperation is to have established spacecraft requirements and feasibility and limitations, and develop a prototype system for ground testing.

The international cooperation is envisaged to be working closely on sub-systems requirements and design. The cooperation partners would provide their expertise and know-how and the company is responsible for integrating the requirements and overall design. The company is looking for a one-off pro-bono service for sub-systems feasibility and requirements definition. However for prototype demonstrator design and validation, financing for the prototype will be done through grant funding and other forms of outside investment.
