Description:
An Italian company provides "tailor-made" chemicals for warp sizing. The product portfolio covers sizing agents, waxing agents and additives for sizing process (defoamers, antistatic and wetting agents, solid waxes and lubricants). Their chemical products combines chemistry and technology, quality and environmental protection.

About 40-50% of wastewater released from textile plants is related to desizing process. Most of the size removed during desizing is released as effluent and causes environmental problems, especially when non-biodegradable sizes such as PVA (Polyvinyl alcohol) are used. We believe that possible key points to increase the sustainability of textile production chain could be the following: 1) optimization of sizing process using different technologies and protocols, 2) develop of new eco-friendly products at low cost alternative to the use of PVA as textile sizing agent, 3) efficient wastewater treatment process after "de-sizing" process for water saving and its re-use (i.e. bioremediation). We think to the strong synergy between research and industry to reach these objectives.

The company have strong collaborations with textile research institutes, technological centers and universities (principally in Europe) interested to increase the sustainability of textile manufacturing chain. Principally the collaborations are focused on basic research to develop new project ideas on national and international basis and also to increase the technology transfer to textile industry.
