Summary:

Description:
A French innovative SME which provides downfall detection solutions and assistance to fragile elderly people solutions based on an "Internet of Things" online platform. The involved innovations are video analysis of person behavior, deep learning, big data analysis, process and service management. The target market is care institutions and seniors at home.
For 6 million people over 75 years in France (around 46 million in Europe), the downfall is the problem number one for frail seniors. Indeed, downfalls drastically affect their autonomy. Annually, 3 million senior downfalls are recognized in France (around 23 million per year downfalls in Europe). The consequences are dependent of the severity of the downfall and of the time elapsed while lying on the ground.
Several solutions to prevent dowfall detection exist:
1. Passive solutions : the senior push a SOS Button to ask for help,
2. Active solutions : which require wearable sensors (accelerometer, biological signals) or environmental sensors (of presence, on the floor, on the doors ..). If there is detected a particular variation of the signals, the device triggers an alert,
3. Live video solutions: the video sensor analyzes the behavior of senior people and triggers the alert accordingly.
Many solutions are "blind" and do not allow to distinguish a real downfall from a false alarm.
Only the image delivered by the video detectors, allows to avoid unnecessary interventions and minimizing the total cost of solution, including human assistance.
The SME´s solution, based on its Internet of Things infrastructure, provides a downfall detection and assistance service using smart cameras installed in living areas. The videos are analyzed 24 hours per 7 days, without any recording or external access. When an alert signal is detected, a picture is sent to operators at the assistance platform. They are available 24 hours per 7 days, and they check up detected alerts issued by the devices. In the case of proven downfall, the intervention procedure is initiated : contacting the right persons.
The SME provides the following services:
1. Security to frail elderly persons,
2. Help to professionals in their caregiving support,
3. Serenity to families
4. Cost savings to health insurances.
