Description:
A Spanish R-Y-D group is working with advanced 3D and Virtual Reality solutions for industrial applications. The group is working on a simulation project for a Spanish SME and has emerged a serious problem with the meshes optimization process.

The group is working on the basis of groups of industrial pieces made in CAD programs (Inventor, SolidWorks, Catia, etc). These parts are exported in native formats as stl, igs, stp, etc.

When they imports these models in programs such as 3Ds Max or Maya, they find that the pieces have a large number of polygons and it is not possible to work with them.

The research group is looking for a company or research organization engaged in industrial automation. The expected tasks to be performed by the partner are related with a solution that preserve the geometry of industrial parts in export process from CAD formats to programs like Maya or 3Ds Max, without losing any of its features.

The Spanish group is willing to establish any collaboration necessary to find a solution available for demonstration or already in the market, including commercial agreements with technical assistance, technical cooperation agreements, or license agreements.

Technical Specification or Expertise Sought:
The group is looking for a mesh retopology automated solution that is able to preserve the geometry of these industrial parts, without losing any of its peculiarities, such as: hard edges, the inner geometry (if the piece had it), bevels, etc.
The group has test 3D-Coat, Zbrush, Topogun, Wrapx, Meshlab, and Blender with no usable results.
These pieces have to be imported in Unity3D to be rendered in real time. The final application has hundreds of pieces in an Android device.

The solution should be easy and low cost. In the case of solutions that are still under development, technical cooperation agreements are also sought.
