An Austrian SME is looking for a control unit that can supply a constant nitrogen gas stream with cryogenic temperatures (= temperature range between -100°C and -185°C). The unit has to control a gas stream that ensures a steady temperature within a chamber. The SME is looking for partners from industry or academia to co-develop the unit under technology cooperation agreement.
Description:
The Austrian SME is specialized in deep cryogenic treatments (DCT) of metals and components. DCT is a thermal process down to minus 185 degree Celsius to improve material performance and is mainly applied in the tooling and machining industry, but has positive impacts in audio and music instruments too.

Now the SME wants to improve the process and developing a control unit, which is able to supply a constant flow of cold gas (nitrogen) at a pre-set temperature. Therefore, the unit needs to be capable to cool down and hold the temperature in the range of -100°C down to -185°C. The unit should be placed between the liquid nitrogen tank (=energy supply) and the chamber with approximately 0,5 m³, where a constant temperature should be maintained. Additionally the unit has to be able to vary the cold gas stream volume.

Partners are sought from industry or academia from selected countries with expertise in valves and temperature control units for a joint development project.
