El centro de investigación busca pymes que trabajen en el campo de predicciones de energía solar y radiación solar. The proposed project aims at leveraging the EO (Earth Observation) data by receiving satellite datasets from multiple sources. It aims to develop a set of tools for better performance of solar market. The institute is seeking for SMEs working with solar energy forecasts and solar irradiances for research collaboration.
Description:
A long established Greek research organization is dealing with the astrophysics sector. The research organization is well connected to other research organizations and it has long experience in EU projects, especially for Earth Observation (EO) theme. The research organization is preparing a proposal under the H2020 topic: EO Big Data Shift.

The overarching objective of the project is to establish a new model of operation for the Greek EO data hub, operating effectively with a pan-European platform for the digital data collection on the state of the upper-atmosphere, for both back office and front office of the platform. The project is about to launch of a Copernicus virtual earth observatory, by providing through the front office of scalable semantic and visualisation ICT tools. This virtual observatory will be used to integrate the platform of data for the upper-atmosphere. The desired connection will aim to the pavement of the way to foster Copernicus users´ uptake.

The approach is to develop ontologies based on open standards and processing modules that make use of diverse big data sources. The data sources are expected to include multi-modal -Y- multi-resolution satellite data, Copernicus (EO) core services products, non-EO data (e.g. geospatial information layers, including Linked Open Data), in-situ information (e.g. meteorological data) and numerical models.

Exploiting the novel ICT tools and the diversity of input information, the project will generate new knowledge through the application of analytics and semantics-based data mining. Then the project will demonstrate the application of an entire value chain, channeled through a collaborating ground segment, for serving the renewables energy sector with direct and measurable economic benefits.

The research institute is seeking SMEs dealing with solar energy forecasts and solar irradiance to complement a competitive proposal. The type of collaboration will be research.

The project proposal will be submitted to Horizon 2020 under the H2020-EO-2017 (EO Big Data Shift, single stage).

The Greek research organization is looking for SMEs which are relevant to solar energy forecasts and solar irradiances. The SMEs would ideally have also strong market interest to the solar energy market and connection to energy traders and TSOs (Transmission System Operator). The Greek organization will provide the downstream service to the SMEs which will provide more accurate and frequent forecast of the solar radiation.
