Se trata de un modelo físico portátil de una central hidroeléctrica de bombeo que puede utilizarse para investigar y probar algoritmos de control avanzado antes de su implementación en procesos industriales reales. El sistema también está indicado para realizar prácticas en cursos de análisis y diseño de sistemas de control automático. La universidad busca socios con el fin de establecer acuerdos de licencia o comercialización con asistencia técnica.

An established Slovak university has developed a new water power plant. It is a portable physical model of a pumped storage hydro-plant. It can be applied in the research and testing of advanced control algorithms before their implementation on real industrial processes. The system is also suitable for supporting practical education in courses on automatic control systems analysis and design. They are looking for partners for license agreement or commercial agreement with technical assistance.
Description:
Above mentioned Slovak univesity offers education in technical, technological, technical-economical, technical-information and technical-artistic fields of study. This university has developed a portable physical model of a pumped storage hydro-plant, which can be easily applied in the research and testing of advanced control algorithms before their implementation on real industrial processes. Other practical use of this technology is in education process - e.g. in courses on automatic control systems analysis and design.

The priority of the system is its ability to simulate single-input, single-output (SISO) and multi-input, multi-output (MIMO) processes with a variable time delay. There are a number of steps that must be undertaken before a control algorithm can be successfully applied to a real environment.
The main benefit of the laboratory system can be expected in obtaining a first practical experience with the created control algorithms, and in shortening a test phase before their implementation in an industrial process. The main market for the result are universities and research laboratories. The technology could be also applicable in water power plants.

The university is looking for partners to cooperate with via license agreement or via commercial agreement with technical assistance. Their aim is the implementation of this technology. These types of cooperation were selected because they fit todays need of the university regarding this technology in a very best way.
Advantages and Innovations:
It enables first experiences to be obtained with tuning of the algorithms´ parameters.
It helps to overcome the drawbacks of the non-sensitivity of mathematical theories to many control problems, and supports their solutions.
The system reduces the costs planned for experiments with real industrial plants, and permits testing of the algorithms in various marginal situations.
