Licensing agreement for real time differentiation: successful integration of a multipurpose, economic and light sensor
Summary:
A French research center uses a new algorithm to differentiate a signal in real time despite interfering noises. This method can process any signal over a wide frequency range and for large amplitude variations.
Also, it allows to integrate 2 sensors in only 1 physical component.
The research center is looking for integrators in order to get manufacturing agreements or licensing agreements.
Description:
The invention presented here is primarily algorithmic.
This new algorithm differentiate a signal in real time despite interfering noises.
It can be used for any signal over a wide frequency range (from continuous to kHz) and for large amplitude variations.
The solution proposed here is made in order to have ´2 sensors in 1´ with an algorithmic treatment on the physical first measurement system or signal.
Two versions are available to date:
· For digital sensors: the innovative algorithm can be integrated in the sensor own microchip
· For analog sensors: in this case, the algorithm is implemented in an electronic card to be integrated in the sensor.
This innovation has shown better results compared to differentiation algorithms existing today.
Technology Readiness Level is currently 4.
The different steps successfully completed are:
· Simulation
· Experimentation
· Integration on test benches for Transportation, Aeronautics, Aerospace and Medical Robotics markets.
The system is based on mathematics: by using the derivation of a signal equation, new information is available. The most relevant result is to transform a position sensor into a position and speed sensor. Processing other signals is conceivable. This method could be extended to industry processes, mechanical systems and precision processes. Furthermore the research centre is looking for market applications such as automotive, aerospace, chemicals, flight mechanics or screw machining.
But the principal market to reach is probably the automotive industry: transportation, aerospace and aeronautics. The secondary markets would be energy, medical industry and robotics.
The research center is looking for integrators in order to get manufacturing agreements, licensing agreements or technical cooperation agreements.
Advantages and Innovations:
The novel algorithm allows to have ´Sensor 2 in 1´ with only one physical sensor.
By using this algorithmic system, the new sensor is giving more indications and results.
The same data could give new information, quickly and with acceptable precision.
So, the advantages of this technology are:
· Example of 2 datas: Position and speed. It´s developed at level TRL4
· A simple a reliable algorithm, easy to implement
· Easy implementation and maintenance
· Guaranteed performance over a wide frequency and amplitude range
· Excellent trade-off between noise amplification and phase shifting
· Diagnosis, Control / Command improved
Results have shown better results compared to differentiation algorithms existing to date.
The global level of technological maturity is TRL4.

Partner sought

Type and Role of Partner Sought:
The lab is looking for all sensor manufacturers which could have interests for their clients and markets.
The first market is large: transportation and aeronautics.
The second market is energy, medical, industry and robotics.
The partners could integrate the technology in their product, test it and give answer for new adapted developments.
The markets should be well known and the partner could integrate the algorithm in their products.
The lab would like to license their algorithm and allows integration in new products.
