Una universidad letona especializada en espectroscopía de la piel ha desarrollado una tecnología de evaluación remota de patologías y condiciones generales de la piel a través del smartphone con iluminador espectralmente específico y software original. Esta tecnología permite obtener mapas de distribución de cromóforos y fluoróforos de la piel en la pantalla del smartphone a partir de imágenes captadas con la cámara bajo iluminación de un contenido espectral específico. La universidad busca socios con el fin de establecer acuerdos comerciales con asistencia técnica.

Latvian university involved in skin spectroscopy developed technology for remote assessment of skin pathologies and general condition by means of smartphone with spectrally specific illuminator and original software. The technology enables to obtain distribution maps of skin chromophores and fluorophores on the screen of smartphone from the images taken by its own camera under illumination of a specific spectral content. The company is looking for commercial agreement with technical assistance.
Description:
Human skin contains several light-absorbing pigments or chromophores; the distribution of their concentrations changes in cases of skin pathologies, and it can be detected by changes in the reflected or fluorescent light at specific spectral intervals. Skin spectroscopy studies allow associating such changes of optical parameters with certain structural changes of the skin. The Latvian university has elaborated software and application for remote assessment of skin pathologies and general condition. It can be exploited for diagnostics of skin pathologies (including tumors) and for monitoring of skin healing after bruises, burns, surgeries, etc. Functioning and clinically approbated smartphone/illuminator prototype sets of three kinds are available for tests.
The company is looking for commercial agreement with technical assistance.
Advantages and Innovations:
The technology is remote, fast and easy to apply, it does not require assistance of medic or medical facility. The main advantage of the optical methodology is non-invasiveness, i.e. assessment without damaging of skin, in some cases even not touching it. The IPR of this technology is protected by the Europatent application and Latvian patent.
