Summary:
A German globally active contract R-Y-D company (SME) has developped a technology plattform to produce natural aroma on the basis of sugar/renewable resources/biomass residues. Main advantages: more cost-effective than extractive process, optimised yield, sustainable, intensive flavour. It is available in raspberry or violet. They look for industrial partners, e.g. producer of food, pharma (improvement of taste of medicines), cosmetics etc. for commercial agreement with technical assistance.
Description:
The availability of pure flavours enables the imitation of natural flavours or targeted creation of new flavour compostion or aroma for cosmetic products. At present the extraction of pure flavours from plants is laborious and shows small yields. In the long run yield improvement by biotechnological processes is desirable.

Hence a German SME has developped a technology for the fermentative production of an enantiomerically-pure flavour (R)-alpha-ionon. It enables the production of pure raspberry or violet aroma without mixture of beta- and gamma ionon and without the woody aroma of the (s) form of the alpha ionon. Due to this yield optimized procedure up to 20 hectare per gram (R) - alpha ionon agricultural area for the cultivation of raspberry or 111 tons of raspberries can be saved.
The technology of the company which has received prizes in the past, combines the efficiency of plant´s biosynthesis and the eased use of microorganism.

Biomass serves as raw material and carotinoids build the precursor of the flavor. Specific enzymes cut the carotinoids into the flavor molecules. The whole process takes place in bacteria in the form of fermentation.

Possible fields of application are the pharmaceutical and food market, flavour and fragnance branch, wellness etc.

They look for companies, e.g. drug developer, flavours producer, supplement producer for commercial agreement with technical assistance.
