La invención evita la incertidumbre en bordes de subbloques y consiste en un nuevo método de intercambio de información entre decodificadores paralelos. Description:
A spanish university focused on telecommunication and Internet technologies have a research group, which has achieved some progress on turbo codes methods.

Nowadays turbo codes appear as a paramount key of many wireless standards due to its enormous error correcting capabilities. Nevertheless, this error correcting capability is associated with high complexity which involves: (1) high chip area consumption and (2) low binary rate at the output of the turbo decoder. These issues have paramount relevance at the present time since modern cellular standards are requiring rather demanding binary rates. In order to solve this problem, parallel decoding becomes necessary. This technique consists on dividing the input block in several subblocks that are decoded at the same time by a different decoder. Although this solution effectively increases the binary rate, parallelization has two main drawbacks: chip area consumption is increased and there is a loss in error correcting capability due to uncertainty at subblock edges.

The research group has developed an invention, wich effectively solves these issues. A novel method of information exchange between parallel decoders that eliminates the uncertainty at subblock edges is proposed. Contrary to other solutions, this proposed method increases the error correcting capability without any penalization in binary rate.

The University is looking for cooperation with companies in ICT sector. More specifically, companies of wireless communication systems, that also use modern cellular standards (UMTS, HSPA, LTE, WiMAX), satellite communications systems, underwater communications, optical wireless communications, etc. The cooperation agreement sought are the licensing or technical cooperation to test new applications or adapting the system to specifics needs.

-Implementing turbo decoders associated with a high binary rate where the binary rate can be modified by changing the number of parallel units.

-Obtaining low area consumption thanks to low complexity exhibited by SOVA.

-Obtaining low error rate due to the proposed method of information exchange between decoders.
