The Luxembourg company offers the successful candidate the possibility to accelerate product development and market access, through technical cooperation agreement. Deadline for applications is May 31st, 2018.
Description:
In the Iron and Steel Industry, the Luxembourg company has developed a slag granulation and dewatering technology which is known as one of the most reliable slag treatment processes available on the market.

The main critical factor in such a slag granulation and dewatering plant is known to be the significant amount of fine slag sand particles (so-called "fines"), which naturally cannot be completely retained by the filter screens of the core process equipment and thus remain in the process water to a certain extent. These fines are highly abrasive and can cause wear or clogging issues.

Therefore, in order to further reduce the need for maintenance and thereby strengthen its market position, the Luxembourg client is looking for an additional filtration unit that could allow removing a far higher amount/fraction of fines from the process water.
Technical Specification or Expertise Sought:
For the proposed water filtration system, the following design specification shall be considered:

- Slag density: 2,5-2,7 kg/l
- Physical properties of slag fines: glassy grain structure, edgy (incl. needles), particle size =1 mm
- Chemical properties of slag fines: SiO2 (35%), CaO (40%), Al2O3 (15%), MgO (8%), others (2%)
- Water flow rate: 2.000 m3/h
- Water temperature: 30 - 95 °C
- Water pressure: atmospheric
- Typical grain size distribution of fines: between 1 and 700 micrometer
- Typical water characteristics:
o pH-value: 6-9
o Conductivity: <12.000 -Y-micro;S/cm
